Rice, Jr., Fred “Alvin”, 89, retired Boeing jig tool builder and Machinist Union member passed away Oct. 31, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan in 2003 and son Jim in 2006. Survivors are daughters Jackie (Lenny) Diaz, Sherry (Larry) Hammer, Jan (Steve) Michels all of Wichita; brother John (Pat) Rice of Pasadena, CA; sister Betty Close of Bucklin, KS; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Viewing is 12 to 8 pm with family receiving 7 to 8 pm Wednesday and funeral service is 3:00 pm Thursday, Nov. 3 at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice.
