

Gary Lee Hoepner, 75, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2nd, 2024. He was born on January 4th, 1949, in Tracy, Minnesota, to Walter Lawrence and Bernetta Rosella (Eilefson) Hoepner.
A veteran of the Air National Guard, Gary studied at Butler Community College and Wichita State University. He later retired from Boeing Aircraft, where he dedicated 27 years of service. Known for his love of community, Gary was an avid Shockers fan and a longtime volunteer at USD 259, St Paul Lutheran Church Community Breakfast, Family Promise, and Stephen Ministry with his church, Reformation Lutheran. He was also an avid cyclist and participated several times in Bike MS, where he raised money for multiple sclerosis research. Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family fiercely and was proud of their accomplishments.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bernetta Hoepner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Hoepner; his children Jeremy (Mitra) Hoepner and Ryan (Sara) Hoepner; grandchildren, Jacob (Hannah) Hoepner, Lexi Hoepner, Lawrence Hoepner, and Jackson Rocha; his siblings, Dean Hoepner, Scott (Dee) Hoepner, Julie (Marlo) Porter, and Jeff Hoepner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 11:00 am on September 14th, 2024 at Reformation Lutheran Church, 7601 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas, 67206.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions can be made in Gary’s honor to Reformation Lutheran Church.
Gary will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to his family, and commitment to his community. His kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
