Gavin was always very helpful when I had a problem in the Interlibrary loan office at Wichita State Univ. He did all he could do to help me deal with many issues we had through the years. He will be greatly missed.

Gavin was always there with a kind word or just a smile. I passed his office every day on my way to Technical Services at the old Wichita Public Library. He will be missed.

Many years ago Gavin did work on my car, and because we were friends, he refused to take any money despite spending his own money and time on it. I remember several times when he came in to a restaurant that I worked at, during slow times, and would hang out with me.
He was one of the kindest people I ever met.
Gavin, you are missed!

My heart goes out to the Thomas family. Gavin was a gentle soul, very kind and thoughtful. It was many years ago I worked with him at the library and enjoyed numerous conversations of movies, books and music both old and new. We would see each other throughout the years at city hall and chat. "Remember that people are only guests in your story - the same way you are only a guest in theirs - so make the chapters worth reading." Laura Klarfeld. The wonderful people in the chapters from WPL will always be special and held dear in my heart. Gavin's light shines brightly, he will be truly missed. Prayers and hugs to his family.

Gavin was so liked by everyone. I worked with him at the library for 18 years and he always had a smile and hello as I came down the hall. I know the family has a lot of good memories also and I want to give you my condolences.

Gavin and I often found ourselves leaving the library at the same time and he would walk me to my car. He was very kind and will be missed.

GAVIN WAS A VERY TRUE, KIND, AND SINCERE PERSON.
I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH A VERY HARD TIME AND GAVIN'S KINDNESS MEANT SO MUCH TO ME.
THAT MEMORY HAS STAYED WITH ME ALL THESE YEARS.

After I heard the news through our City announcements of Joe Thomas passing...it saddened my heart. I too have seen many fellow co-workers near and dear to my heart pass on before they could enjoy retirement. I pray his family understands my reason for posting this. I know how much it means to loose someone you've worked with for all of those years...the "City" is like a 2nd family to me. I pray for comfort to Joe's family and friends as others prayed for me and my co-workers when we've lost our dear friends in C.O.W. After all, we spend many hours of our life with them! I wish I could have met him...and shared stories as well. He sounds like he gave from his heart.
God Bless him and his family on this final journey...take care!
