Born in Wichita on September 15, 1952, George was the son of Jerry and Marilyn Massey. Not finishing high school he drafted into the United States Army, serving honorably until his discharge in 1971. He then spent six years in the Army Reserves, continuing his commitment to service.
During this time, George met the girl of his dreams, Sandra. The two were married at the young age of seventeen and shared a devoted union that spanned 55 years. Together, they built a life centered on love, perseverance, and family.
In 1970, George began his professional journey in aviation, first working at Beech Aircraft before moving to Boeing, which later became Spirit AeroSystems. Over the course of 41 years, he contributed his skill and dedication to the industry, retiring with pride at age 62.
George’s passions extended beyond his career, he found joy in woodworking, tinkering with different things, traveling with Sandy and spending time with their 2 sons. His craftsmanship, warmth, and quiet humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Marilyn Massey; brother, Craig Massey and sister, Zena Massey.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra Massey; their children, Jared Massey and Quentin (Candice) Massey; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and sister, Sheila Massey.
A funeral service for George will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, followed by a graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory may be made.
