George W. Phelps, age 92, devoted Husband, Dad, and Grandpa, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. George was born on February 22, 1930 in Delavan, Kansas, the son of the late John William "Bill" and Kitty Corina (Johnston) Phelps.
On November 22, 1951, he married Roxie Ward in Wichita, Kansas. They were married for 56 years until her passing in 2008.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Phelps; daughter, Louanna Smith; stillborn grandson, George Clark Smith; George's brothers Clarence, Louis, William; and his sisters, Marie, Dorothy, and Nobie.
Survivors include: daughter, Barbara and husband, Ed Meyer; grandsons, Justin and Grant Meyer; granddaughter, Lisa Smith.
George was a retired Operations Manager at Boeing where he was employed, 44 yrs.
A visitation for George will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. both at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas. A graveside service will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita.
