

Gladys L. (Robertson) Loghry was born January 1, 1921 in Delaware, Oklahoma and graduated to eternal life with her Savior Jesus Christ on August 15, 2017 in Wichita, Kansas. Gladys was the eldest daughter an second of six children born to Thomas Alexander Robertson and Pearl Davis Robertson. Gladys is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Everett Maurice Loghry; grandson, Derrin Halstead; great granddaughter, Amber Ward; brothers, Martin Reed Robertson, Thomas A. Robertson and Jimmy Ray Robertson; and sister, Melva Waunita Robertson. She is survived by her children, Janet (Duane) Halstead, Phyllis Loghry, Maurice (Janet) Loghry and Donald (Marsha) Loghry; sister, Susie Fair; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends. Gladys grew up in Oklahoma, met and married Everett there on September 16, 1940. Everett was the love of her life. She often said, "When you've had the best, forget the rest". They lived in Washington State for brief time and Liberal, Kansas before settling in Wichita. Their eldest daughter Janet was born in Oklahoma and their second daughter Phyllis and sons, Maurice and Donald were born in Wichita. Gladys was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Gladys assisted in the war effort during World War II when she worked at Wilson's where food was processed to be shipped to the troops. She later worked several years at the Wichita Children's Home. When Everett and a partner; Dale Clark formed their own construction company (concrete work, basements and foundations) she served as a bookkeeper for the company. Gladys had a quick wit and great sense of humor which served her well throughout her life. She often recalled some of the many pranks pulled on others by her siblings and herself. Gladys and Everett were active on the homebound visitation team at Immanuel Baptist Church until their health prohibited them continuing in that ministry. When she no longer could visit she continued to encourage others with many cards and notes. She prayed faithfully for her family, church and friends. She participated on the Immanuel Baptist prayer team as long as she was able. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. and funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 both at Resthaven Mortuary.
