Gloria D. Bables, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025. She was born on April 20, 1939, to her beloved mother, Gladys Wilson, in Hennessy, Oklahoma.
Gloria's journey of life was full of remarkable chapters. She attended school in Hennessey before moving to Wichita, Kansas during her senior year. Gloria graduated from East High School in 1957. She married the love of her life, Arbary B. Bables, and they shared 42 beautiful years together, raising five wonderful children. Gloria served with dedication at St. Joseph Hospital and Wesley Hospital, retiring from her position at Wesley Hospital after many years of splendid service. As a dedicated volunteer, Gloria led her daughters' Girl Scout troops and worked as an Enrolled Tax Agent for H&R Block for 23 years.
A woman of many passions, Gloria cherished reading, sewing, traveling, and most of all, spending quality time with her family. The Bables family home was always filled with laughter and memorable board game nights. Gloria was an active member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church, contributing her time and efforts to the United Methodist Women and the Hospitality Ministry.
We are deeply grateful for the boundless love and unwavering guidance she shared with us. Although she is no longer with us physically, her love will continue to be our guiding light. Gloria remains ever-present in our hearts. We love and miss her dearly, knowing that we have an angel watching over us. She is, and always will be, our cherished mother, grandmother (GB or G-Ma), great-grandmother, and friend.
Preceded in death by her mother, husband, and bonus-son, Arbary Bables Jr., Gloria leaves behind a loving family. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Diane) Bables; daughters, Deborah (Timothy) Bennett, Melessa Bables, Rhonda Bables, and Denise (Marc) Powell; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; along with cousins, nieces, and nephews who will hold her memory dear.

A come-and-go visitation for Gloria will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
The funeral service for Gloria will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 1525 North Lorraine Avenue, Wichita, Kansas 67214. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in the Garden of Everlasting Life, 12100 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
