Hallie Elaine Kress, 76, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on October 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 9, 1950, in Compton, California, Hallie was the daughter of George and Nellie Zimmerman (Mallen). Throughout her life, she cherished the time she spent with her family and the everyday moments that brought her joy.
Hallie was united in marriage to Nelson Kress on September 1, 1990. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and in her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, working on puzzles and word searches, watching General Hospital, and spending time working in the yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nellie Zimmerman; her husband Nelson Kress; her siblings, George L. Zimmerman, Brad Zimmerman, Gregory Zimmerman, Diane Smith, Anna Kay Cordero, and Wanda Zimmerman; and her grandson, Anthony Whalen.
Hallie leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her children, Brian Whalen (Diane), Patrick Whalen (Carrie), Joseph Whalen (Lisa), and Elizabeth Rouse; her grandchildren, Ashley Whalen (Jason Drake), Brandon Whalen (Alyssa), Joshua Whalen (Sammy), Braedyn Grommesh, Jacob Whalen, Michayla Whalen (Eric Reyes), Gabriella Whalen (Esteban Diaz), Joseph Whalen Jr. (Ariana Rojas), Adrianna Whalen (Tyriq Lockett), Madison Whalen (Mary Jane Neises), Kensey Rouse, and Hunter Rouse; great-grandchildren Evan, Dallas, Savannah, Madi, Liam, Enolla, Josie, Emma, Peyton, Emiliano, Esella, Esteban, Agustin, Josalina, Kyrie, Kalio, and Kaylani.
Hallie’s memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the generations of family who will continue to carry her love with them. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories shared with her will remain a lasting source of comfort to those who loved her.
May she rest in eternal peace.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home on October 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm with an interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in the Garden of Everlasting Life, 12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, Kansas 67206
