Hazel Margarete Drummond, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born on November 4, 1933, in Velma, Oklahoma where she grew up attending and playing basketball at Velma-Alma High School.
Hazel was preceded in death by: her husband, John A. Drummond; parents, George “Bud” and Iola Moore; siblings: Alma “Bea” Foster, Margie Resz, Jack, John, and Preacher Moore. Hazel is survived by: her four children: Rick Drummond, David Drummond, Jan Clasen, Dana Drummond; and grandchildren: Nathan Drummond (Rachel), Brandon Clasen, and Jenna Clasen; niece, Kay Whitehead; and nephew, Gerald.
Hazel passed in her home of over 60 years where she enjoyed watching birds and squirrels in the backyard. She enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and talking to her neighbors. Her love of basketball continued throughout her life as she was a loud and avid KU basketball fan.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service at Resthaven Mortuary on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 2:00pm. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service.
