Hilyard, Hazel, 94, was born December 22, 1920 in Independence, Kansas, and passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. She always enjoyed caring for her family and serving others. Hazel took care of her husband and her sister through major illnesses. She loved to cook, sew and garden, and especially her cherished hobby of TAKING PICTURES of every event she attended, always surrounded by her loving family and friends. EVERYBODY was welcome, including her constant companion, Prairie the cat. Hazel was preceded by her parents, a brother and two sisters; her husband Milton; grandson Steven Shumard; great- granddaughter Amber Shumard; daughter-in-law Mary Hilyard; and is survived by daughter Carol (John) Harbert; son Gerald Hilyard; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
