Herb lived a life marked by generosity, kindness and dedication to his family and community.
He enjoyed working on and building garden trains and loved running them and creating elaborate displays especially during Christmas and Halloween.
Herb loved taking his children and grandchildren to Disney. He loved anything Disney especially movies and memorabilia. He loved seeing the look of delight with the fantasy of it all on their faces. He loved being around children especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His life was fully dedicated to his family.
He considered himself a fisherman and loved the great outdoors. He was an avid Scouter who earned the rank of Eagle. One of his highlights was going on a 5 mile hike at Quivira Scout Camp where he carried a 15 pound rock with his grandson Jonathan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George W. Reeves Jr and Ellen L. Reeves; his sons, Daniel Allan and Jessie Collins; his nephew, Franklin McGrew and his grandson, David Lee Allan.
Herb is survived by his wife, Heather McGrew-Reeves; his children: Thelma (Eldon) Stillwell, Crystal (David) Smith, Bobbi Allan, Jay Collins, Melvin "Junior" (Vickie) Collins, J'Lea (Michael) McGrew-Collins; brothers, Steve (Debbie) Reeves and Michael S. (Sandy) Reeves and and a plethora of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation services will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, located at 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. The first visitation is scheduled for November 24, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A second visitation will take place on November 25, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a funeral service to follow on the same day, November 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the chapel. A committal service will follow in the Garden of Christus at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Honoring Herb's memory as pallbearers will be Steven Reeves, Michael S. Reeves, Jonathan Smith, Damon McGrew-Collins, Brandon Foster, Michael Voyles, Michael W. Reeves, and Jacob Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Train Garden at Botanica in Wichita, Kansas..
Herb's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
