 I recently saw a man that looked so much like Rev. Sorenson that I decided to research and find out if it could be one of his sons.  My research lead me here and I was saddened to see I had just missed an opportunity to tell him in person how influential both he and Mrs. Sorenson were to my life.  The first time I heard him preach as a 7 year old, I was drawn to him.  He was so down to earth and easy to listen to and it was while we attended Pleasant Valley Baptist, under his pastorship, that I accepted Christ and he baptized me at the age of 9.  I learned and grew so much as a child through his sermons and the Sunday school teachings of Mrs. Sorenson.  I have always been so thankful for them both. They have always been so special to me.  The sad part is, I don't know that they ever knew that.  I was such a shy child that I probably never said more then a few words to them.  But, I am sure there are many people that were touched and taught and influenced by both of them.  I am sorry for the family's lose and sorry that I can't tell him in person how important he was to my life.

Uncle Howard and Aunt Claire were always so pleasant and open whenever we were able to see them.  We enjoyed the times they came to Port Huron to see her sister, Iva.  We were able to visit them in Wichita and so glad that we did.  Fay Ann (niece) and Al Frost

We always enjoyed Uncle Howard and Aunt Claire when they visited Port Huron. They were a wonderful and will miss those visits and letters.

I remember Howard as a caring father, a man of God, and a shepherd to his flock at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

Howard and Claire Sorensen were a wonderful support to our family after the death of our parents in 1975.  Claire had been a close friend of our mother, and during the year we were in Great Bend after their deaths both Claire and Howard helped us adjust to our loss and work toward our future.

Howard blessed the residents of Homestead Health Center with his warm and personalized approach to fellowship and worship.  He would read, sing, and otherwise minister to the elderly in a very direct manner.  I can't recall ever hearing a harsh word from him or a complaint about his own pain and suffering.  He spoke well of his sons and grandchildren and loved his wife beyond any comparison.  The residents of Homestead Health Center have suffered a great loss with his passing.  May he find solace and his just reward in heaven.

Howard and Claire were the most influential people in my life related to my desire to work with Missions. I watched their slides from Haiti when I was a young boy in a tiny Baptist church in Coats, KS. I then visited them on the Navajo reservation. This time it was during a time that I was coming  back to the Lord, and was a Junior in the College of Veterinary Mission. Howard exemplified the task set before us, to reach the unsaved.

I know Howard from serving our residents at the Health Center- he always had a smile and something to say to each of them, he prayed, he sang, he consoled and I know it meant alot to each and every one of them. He never missed a beat and knew when I was going to be there to work and would ask about me if I wasnt there. We have very few people on earth that give of the time and love as Howard did, you could tell he enjoyed his life and his fellow man- now he is with Clair and they are preaching love and kindness to all.

The very few times I spent time with Uncle Howard are precious memories. He and Aunt Claire came to visit us in MT when they were there working with natives on the Crow Indian Reservation. What a pleasure to have our children meet them, and enjoy their company for a few days. We are saddened at his passing, and offer comfort to others who are grieving their loss.
