Taylor, Howard Robert, 97, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Howard was born January 8, 1917 on a farm near Fall River, Kansas, to Dow and Dora (Mills) Taylor. He was the ninth of ten children, having four brothers and five sisters. He graduated Climax High School in 1935 and attended Emporia State Teachers College and Kansas State, majoring in engineering. He worked at Boeing during WWII, and then as a self-employed mechanic until retirement. Howard was a lifelong bowler until age 96. Howard and Georgia Etta (Essick) were married on February 5, 1938 in Manhattan. They made their home in Wichita and had ten children: Theodore (Denise), Lawrence (deceased), Sharon, Carol, John, Cathy (deceased) Bickell (husband Evan), Kenneth (Melitta), George, Gary, Lila (Dennis) Stovall. The Taylors also have 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. It was Howard’s wish that no service be held, but interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at a future date.
