Irene L. Simpson

Simpson, Irene L, was born to Don and Ruby Conner in Bourbon County, KS on August 18, 1920 and died in Wichita, KS on December 22, 2013 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband, Chester H. Simpson and 5 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Gerald (Janet) Simpson and daughter, Judy (Tony) Zimbelman both of Wichita. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Irene was employed in the aircraft industry while Chet served in the navy in WWII. She supported Chet’s construction business from 1954 to 1984. Irene and Chet raised their family in Wichita where Irene served as den mother, brownie leader and room parent. They retired in Severy, KS. Irene enjoyed traveling, league bowling, Bible Study groups, Cosmos Club, the Senior Center and the Severy United Methodist Church. Services and Interment to be held on Friday, December 27, 10 a.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S.
