She was the 4th (of 5) children born to Homer Monroe Inman & Elora Gertrude (Hays) Inman on a small farm near Walnut, Kansas. Attended school there, & graduated from Walnut HS in class of 1950. She moved to Wichita shortly afterwards & shared an apartment with her older sister Berneice while she worked at city hall as an office clerk.
In 1952, at a YMCA dance, she met Thomas Wimberly, they dated several months & he proposed to her in front of the statue of Immaculate Mary, inside the Cathedral in Wichita. They married on October 31st, 1953, immediately afterwards went to Ft. Benning, Georgia, as Thomas was already in the service of the US Army. Their 1st child, Christopher Thomas was born there in Oct 1954, after Thomas’s honorable service discharge, they moved back to Andover, Ks., where Danny, Alesa, & Mark were added to this family. Moving into Wichita in 1961, the 5th sibling Lori was born, completing the family at 7! Iris worked at Beechcraft, Coleman, & Macy’s, then spent 40+ years at The Wichita Clinic, now known as Via Christi Murdock, retiring in 2015. She held many jobs in clerical, records keeping, insurance, & many years as a medical receptionist. She had a great retirement, traveled with her sisters, spent time with family, loved big family reunions, & making a lifetime of memories!
She is preceded to Heaven by her parents, sister Gladys Hill, brother William Inman, & grandson Grant Wimberly.
She is survived by her 3 sons Chris (Diane), Dan (Beth), & Mark (Cheryl), her 2 daughters Alesa Dekker & Lori (Steve) Meyer; 12 Grandchildren, Bob, Joe, Katie, Aaron, Preston, Andrea, Clinton, Scott, Collin, Nick, Alivia, & Kylie; 8 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren; her “BFF” sister Berniece Oliver, & her “ Special Guy” brother Wally (Frances) Inman and many nieces & nephews.

A rosary will be held on Sunday September 18, 2022 at 4:30pm, St. Jude Church 3030 N Amidon, Wichita and a funeral service will be held Monday September 19,2022 at 10:00am, Resthaven Mortuary 11800 W Hwy 54, Wichita.
