IVA MAE (PLUSH) MORRIS, daughter of William "Henry" and Myrtle (Shepherd) Plush was born 9, January, 1921 in Belmont, Kansas and passed to life eternal on 5 May, 2011 at the age of 90 years 3 months and 26 days.Iva's lineage can boast of several lines of pioneer heritage stock. Plush was Americanized from the surname, dit Ploche. Her ancestors made their way from Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Canada sailing down the St. Lawrence River, Atlantic coast, around Florida, landing in the Evangeline Country of Louisiana. Her mother's side of the family lists Iva's great-grandfather Samuel Shepherd who fought in the Civil War and lived to be almost 101. His forefather came from England at the time of the Revolutionary War and was with Washington at Valley Forge. She was the baby of her family. She had 3 sisters and 5 brothers all of whom preceded her in death. She graduated in 1938 from Belmont High School. She married Benjamin Allen Morris on December 20, 1938, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Bluff City, Kansas. First and foremost in her values and thoughts was being a good wife to Ben. To this union 4 children were born: Ronnie Allen, Rita Annette (who died shortly following her birth), Marcia Kay and Michael Douglas. She is the grandmother of 6 grandsons; 7 great grandchildren (1 grandson, Andy, has gone before her to Heaven) and 1 great-great grand daugter. Her beloved pugs brought her much happiness and rivaled her grandchildren for her attention.Ben and Iva were square dancers. Iva had a life long love of music. She fondly recalled the days of her childhood when they rolled up the rugs and hosted dances. She felt that music kept her youn and in tune with her grandchildren. She was feisty and opinionated. For years, she had running bets with Marcia's sons on whose team would win the most football games. She worked for Boeing as a file clerk. Her hobbies were needlework and puzzles. She was a caring mother and friend who took pride in her appearance and home. After much striving, she is at last at home with her beloved husband, Ben and enjoying the angels' chorus, praising her Lord. The last link in her family chain has come home.Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday May 9, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita, Kansas.
