Davis, Jack Boone "Poppy", 85, Retired Cummins Diesel parts manager went to be with the Lord March 8, 2015. Jack served honorably in the US Navy on the USS Sierra. Jack was a member of Asbury Church and the Homebuilders Class. At Asbury, Jack found faith in Christ, which grew in the 40 years he attended there. Jack worked hard to provide and care for his family. He enjoyed gardening, exercising, eating Carolyn’s good cooking, and bowling. He was an avid reader, always desiring to learn more. Jack enjoyed tinkering in his garage, was attentive to detail in both car and house maintenance; even to the extent of marking on the light bulbs when they were last changed. In addition to cheering on the Kansas sports teams, Jack really loved his league bowling. He was a gentle, kind, and caring husband, father, and grandfather, who always had a smile and a grateful heart. He will be greatly missed. Following his stroke in 2011, Carolyn, his wife of 61 years lovingly cared for him in their home. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Ephraim Davis and Wilma Gladys (Boone) Davis; siblings, Ruth Gilfillan, Glenn Davis, and Harvey Davis. He is survived by wife, Carolyn Davis; children, Pam (Gregg) Miller, Karen Davis, Greg Davis, and Valerie (John) Garcia; siblings, Betty McCreary, Warren (Roberta) Davis, Albert Davis, John (Chela) Davis, and Gerald (Marilyn) Davis; grandchildren, Lyndi (Vincent) Cox, Lance (Hollie) Miller, Angela Garcia, Alexander Garcia, Dalton Davis, and Garrett Davis; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Cox, Keaton Cox, Emree Miller, Savannah Cook, and Chloe Cook. Visitation will be held Friday, March 13th, from 6:30-8:00 pm at Resthaven Mortuary. Celebration of Life Service will be held at Asbury Church at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 28th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury Church; 2801 W. 15th St. Wichita, KS 67203, and Alzheimer’s Association; 1820 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214.
