Jack Leroy Northern Jr.

Jack Leroy Northern Jr., age 74, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Jack was born July 20, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. Jack graduated high school in California in 1965 where he then joined the United States Navy. He served for 6 years. He was a proud veteran. Jack was a custodian for Derby school district where he retired at age 62. He was an avid bowler. Jack was a member of 3 senior teams. He loved gardening, going to car shows, and enjoying his family. Jack loved planning trips and telling stories. On June 28, 1991 he married the love of his life Rita. Together they shared 4 children. Jack was a simple, loving, caring, and family man. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Sr. & Nadine; 1 brother William Northern and his 2 beloved pets Molly and Harley. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 31 years Rita (Gleeson) Northern; 4 children Christy (Leonard) Cooper of North Carolina, Michael Northern of Michigan, Cathleen Gerdes of Texas, and Steven (Lynda) Gleeson of Kansas; 8 grandchildren Amanda (Mike) Jarvis of Texas, Rachelle Gerdes of Kansas, Robert Gerdes of Kansas, Aclynn Gleeson of Kansas, Joe Firkus Giat of Indonesia, Amelia, Gabrielle, Mary Northern of Michigan; 3 great-grandchildren Briley, Braxton, Brennan of North Carolina and Texas and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and bowling buddies. A visitation will be held Friday January 28, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. A celebration of life will be held Saturday January 29, 2022 10 a.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209 following a burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 1800 W.
