James William Lamont Brown of Pitlochry, Scotland, born February 1, 1952, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 8th, 2024. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Arnold W. Brown and mother, Anne D. Brown of Pitlochry, Scotland.
Jim began his career in the Royal Air Force in 1968 where he served in the 208th Buccaneer Squadron and Red Flag team, retiring in 1979, reaching the rank of Sergeant. Jim then worked for Westland Helicopter in Yeovil Somerset, UK as a Development Process Engineer. Moving his family across the Atlantic to Montreal Canada in 1980, he then began his 39 year long career with Bombardier Aerospace. Starting out as a Methods Engineer in Experimental Ground Test, he relocated to Wichita, Kansas, where, as a Flight Test Engineer, Manager of Flight Operations, and Safety Officer, he gained tremendous respect from certifying authorities, his peers, and company leadership not only for his detailed knowledge of flight testing, but also his, calm and fair leadership style. Outside of work, Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, riding his mountain bike, taking RV and motorcycle trips with wife Lise, birdwatching with his granddaughter Emily, and had recently taken up photography classes as a new hobby.
Jim leaves behind: his loving wife, Lise; sister, Helen; daughters, Sylvie and Yannick; and three grandchildren: Emily Rozar, Andrew and Abby McNair.
