He was a master electrician, who worked for various union electrical companies throughout the years as well as for the State of Kansas and Hutchinson Correctional Facility. Being an electrician was a passion for him his entire life. He was a proud member of the IBEW local 661.
James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed. Time spent with family was his greatest joy. He enjoyed telling stories of his life’s experiences at family events. James was the first one to tell a joke as well as the first one to laugh at it. He loved life and loved living life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James McNeill Jr; brothers, George McNeill Jr and Fredrick McNeill; and sisters, Georgetta McNeill, Jessie Anne Schmidt, Peggy Fluery and Paula Clark.
James is survived by his loving wife, Linda McNeill; children, Sabrina (Ward Dietz) McNeill of Hutchinson, Kansas, Jacqueline (James) Craig of Port Charlotte, Florida, Patrick (Jamie) McNeill of Ringling, Oklahoma and Heather (Jon) Robinson of Little River, Kansas; step children, Elisha Rider, Shannon Icenhour and Troy Icenhour all of Wichita, Kansas; twenty-one grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his beloved fur babies, Rudy, Maverick and Goose.
A come and go visitation will be available from 9AM-4PM, Thursday, January 28th, with Funeral service 3:00PM, Friday, January 29th, both at Resthaven Mortuary.
