Jim Waggoner, 84, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and retired Computer Analyst for the Department of Agriculture, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020, in Prairie Village, KS. Jim was born and raised in Wichita, KS and he spent 3 years in the Army, enlisted in the Infantry Unit, and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He married the love of his life, Carolyn Waggoner, in 1960. The couple were married for 60 years. They spent their early years in Derby, Wichita, and St. Louis MO, later relocating to Prairie Village, KS where they raised their 4 children. He and his wife kept busy traveling and he was an avid bowler, having once bowled a 300 perfect game and loved playing darts. He and his wife were huge supporters of their grandchildren, and Jim will be remembered for his kindness, love, and compassion for all.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Carroll Waggoner; brother, Lyell Waggoner; stepmother, Opal Waggoner; and daughter, Lori Winkelman. Jim is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Prairie Village, KS; sisters, Teresa Jacobs and Sharon Powell-Quincy; brothers, Jim and Bill Powell; son, Randy (Rebecca) Sparks of Westplains, MO; daughter, Tammy (Ron) Nichols of Hansville, WA; son in-law, Todd Winkelman of Overland Park, KS; son, JC Waggoner III of Prairie Village, KS; grandchildren, Nathan Nichols, John Sparks, Chris Sparks, Ben Nichols, Libbie Winkleman, and Noah Winkleman; 4 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A Graveside services will be held at, Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita. Memorial Contributions may be made to, American Cancer Society, in memory of Jim Waggoner.
