

96, James (Jim), World War II U.S. Army Veteran, passed away March 23, 2016. Jim was born May 11, 1919 to James William and Minnie Mae Highland Wells in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Preceeded in death by his parents, four sisters, twin daughters, Marilyn and Carolyn, and his wife of 65 years, Ruth. Jim and his wife worked for 12 years as cemetery groundskeeper superintendents in Ohio before moving to Wichita in 1964, where he worked for the Wichita Water Dept. and later retired from the HVAC industry. He enjoyed gardening of all kinds, carpentry, going on trips all over the United States and locally, visiting with friends and family and writing. He wrote 3 excellent booklets on his life experiences, which he printed and distributed to everyone who knew him. He was a kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by his surviving in-laws, friends and neighbors. A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 with visitation one hour prior at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorials may be made in honor of James to Good Shepherd Hospice, 7829 E. Rockhill St. #403, Wichita, KS 67206.
