

Jane and family moved to Akron, Kansas while Jane was in grammar school. The Smalley's, then moved to a farm outside of Burden, Kansas, where Jane attended and graduated from Burden High School in May of 1956. In October of that same year, Jane married Donald G. Lewis, also of Burden, Kansas. While returning from their honeymoon in the Ozarks, they were among the very first vehicles, in their 1955 Chevy Belair hardtop, to drive on the brand new Kansas Turnpike that had just opened that very day in a ceremony with Gene Autrey. Jane was a stay at home seamstress/homemaker, while raising five children. When the youngest began junior high, she started a job at Sears and Roebuck in the Maintenance Agreement Office. After 27 years of working with Sears, she retired in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Lilly Smalley; and brothers, Louis of Oklahoma, Wayne of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gary of Atlanta, Kansas.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Don Lewis; children, Brett, Brenda, Becky, Barbara, and Bonita (the 5 B’s); and favorite musician and grandson, Briley Donald Lewis (honorary 6th B).
Funeral service for Jane will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Interment following the service at Resthaven Cemetery in the Garden of The Cross.
