

Mid afternoon on Friday, January 3, 2025, Janet Margret (Schilling) Cummins went to sleep peacefully in her home surrounded by the ones who loved her and the ones whom she loved. She joined her husband. Franklin D. and son, Stephen David Cummins in eternal life, as well as her twin brother, Donald and her, father and mother.
Janet, otherwise, warmly known as Jan, Aunt Jan, Gigi, Grama Jan, and mom was born in Canby, Minnesota alongside her twin brother, Donald, on May 28, 1939, to Aloysius and Rose Schilling. Later, the family moved from Minnesota to Wichita, Kansas to follow the airline industry. Here, Janet attended Saint Mary’s School before working at the Crown Uptown box office, where she met her husband, Franklin.
After several years of courtship, Janet married Franklin D. Cummins on February 28, 1959. By 1962, they welcomed their first son, Stephen David and in 1965, Gregory Scott, their second son. Janet was also the stepmother of Philip Cummins of Dodge City.
Her number one priority was loving and caring for her family, as she was a constant source of guidance, support and unconditional love.
Janet is survived by her son, Gregory and granddaughter Stephanie, both of Wichita and Philip and Christi Cummins of Dodge City, as well as many more bonus grandchildren Gigi loved very much.
A visitation for Janet will be held Monday, January 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a funeral service at 10:00 AM, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
A graveside service will occur Monday, January 20, 2025, following the service at Calvary Cemetery, 610 S Vassar St, Wichita, KS 67218.
