Jesse A Glenn 50 passed away February 14, 2022, in Wichita, Ks. Born Aug 3, 1971, in Wichita, Ks, to Steven and Sheryl (Gallop) Glenn of Hutchison, Ks. Jesse graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1989. Survived by his wife of 25 years, Heather (Dobbin) Glenn, Park City, Ks. Who would have thought a blind date arranged by her mother and friends allowed two soulmates to meet. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Make-A-Wish of Nebraska through their website or the Lakeview mortuary, Wichita, KS.
Jesse loved life and everything that came with it - a passion for music, food, cars, trucks (of all sizes), machinery, and learning new things. In his youth, learning to play golf was a summer pastime, along with camping and fishing with his parents. In the fall, he went hunting with his dad and his friends. He enjoyed time with his Grandparent's Glenn, taking part in his grandfathers' hobbies - golf, pool, and snooker. The time spent with his Grandparent's Gallop involved learning how to work with wood so he could lend a hand, helping to build a garage for their mountain home and help split and stack cords of firewood. One summer, they took him on a trip through Wyoming and Montana, up into Canada, to Alaska, where he had the luck to fish and land a salmon. They took him to Seattle, where he boarded his first and only airplane flight back home to Kansas. Growing up, he formed an appreciation for classical music. In 6th grade, Jesse was introduced to orchestra and chose an instrument - the string base. He went on to play it through high school. Without really doing any in-depth practicing Jesse, who held 2nd chair, tried out and won 1st chair from a senior classmate while just a junior. Near the end of his senior year, he was offered a chair in the Hutchinson city orchestra. He didn't accept the offer. His life changed course heading in a different direction.
Jesse had a fascination with big trucks and farm equipment from a very early age. After high school, he worked with a harvest crew. Traveling from Texas to Montana, he learned to work on the trucks and combines. After the first season of that he decided to try something different. He moved to Leoti, Ks and worked for Caprock Cattle Feeders. He had a talent for operating the big machinery. He decided he liked being on harvest better and went back to that for several years. In fall 1995, he began working for Truck Center Companies (then Kansas Truck Center) in Hutchinson, transferring to the Wichita location in 1998 where he worked a total of 26 years until his passing. He never worked a day in his life because he truly loved what he did.
As a young adult, he had an Oldsmobile Cutlass that he loved. It took a lot of vehicles for him to find the one that was his true signature vehicle. He didn’t enjoy any other vehicle as much as he enjoyed his current Chevy Silverado. His beamed when he would get compliments on how nice of a truck it is.
Jesse was a D&D gamer, old school style (pen & paper). Most recently he would play online with his group of friends that he always played with. He also enjoyed some other online roll playing games and loved to watch Twich videos of his favorite gamers playing a tank game. (Tanks yet another large vehicle that he was fascinated with)
Jesse, Heather, and his parents enjoyed vacationing together. They travelled to Colorado Springs for the Labor Day balloon festival. While there, they also visited several landmarks and cities around the area. Another trip they made was to New Mexico for the large balloon festival in Albuquerque. They also took small trips to Kansas City to go to the Opera.
Jesse and Heather also used to gather with her family celebrating holidays and special events. There were many years they all gathered at Jesse and Heather’s house for the fourth of July. Jesse taught himself how to build and work on computers, leaning on his brother-in-law John’s expertise when he had questions. From time-to-time John, Kim, Jesse, and Heather enjoyed doing things together, bike riding, going to dinner and just hanging out together.
Jesse was also known for his tattoos. They all started with a T-shirt that his Mom bought on their first trip to the Albuquerque balloon festival. It was a Harley Davidson T-shirt with an eagle with full flaming wings. It covered across his upper back. In later years he ended up with half sleeve tattoos on both arms and various others. After he had lost weight and could no longer wear his wedding ring, he had Heather’s initials tattooed on his ring finger.
Family, friends, and colleagues were all important to him. They brought joy and comfort to his life, and he never forgot them. For example, his 50th birthday card celebration, demonstrated how much people thought of him and his family says thank you.
A funeral service for Jesse will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 5701 E Mt Vernon St, Wichita, KS 67218. Burial service will be held Saturday May 21st, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Osborne cemetery, Mayfield, Ks.
