Jim Schumacher, age 75, loving father, devoted husband, and loyal friend, passed away Friday, April 23rd. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He worked at Beechcraft for 41 years. He was a joyful person, generous and encouraging. He understood that the great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. He has given us that in his caring ways. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, traveling, watching sports and being with his family, friends, dogs and cats. Jim leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Mary; his daughter, Christy Schumacher; his son, Joe and daughter-in-law, KC Schumacher; his brother, Eldon and wife, Mary Jo Schumacher; his sister, Vicki Wertz; his brother-in-law, Jim and wife, Amy Schreffler; 15 beloved nieces and nephews, and many friends. We know that love is never lost; it is energy that goes into the universe and comes back to touch us again and always. Jim, you are loved! Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday; Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, both at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 123 N. Andover Road, Andover. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph Parish, 132 S. Millwood Avenue, Wichita, KS 67213. A special thanks to Larry Smith with Big Daddy Thunder BBQ for providing lunch following the celebration of life service for Jim.

Dear Jim, wife Mary, and family. I am saddened by the news. I will not be able to attend Jim's funeral service, my heart's desire is to be there. At times like this, what to say doesn't come easy. I have lost a close and loyal friend. We worked together for many years at Beech Aircraft and played many games of golf together through the years. Thanks Jim, for always including me to golf with your group of friends on Sunday, that made my retirement better, I was always looking forward each week to our next round of golf. Our last round of golf was in Jenks, OK, May 2019, you drove from Wichita because I didn't think I could make the trip to Wichita. It was a great day of golf, dinner at Texas Roadhouse, and then our discussion on politics/government - I think it was in our discussion on government that we got them straighten out and on the right track, that probably is the reason why there is so much improvement in government now! Jim I always admired and looked up to you for your strength, you were a strong individual, both mentally and physically, always had the ability to work your way through any problem confronting you with strength and courage. You are not forgotten, loved one, Nor will you ever be. As long as life and memory last We will remember thee. God Bless Us Until We Meet Again. Your Friend, Mervin Johnson.
