Joan Marie (Crego) Dodds was born on September 21st, 1933 to John Wesley Crego and Edith Louise (Van Dyke) Crego. She died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April, 21, 2025 following a brief illness. She was 91 years of age.
Joan grew up in Wichita. She met the love of her life, Fred M. Dodds while working at Dillons. Joan worked in the produce and Fred worked as a bagger. They were married for 45 years and had two daughters, Jana and Melanie. Joan worked for the Dairy Council and later opened The Sunflower Shoppe selling handmade Kansas Gifts for 39 years. Joan loved her family unconditionally and was with them as much as she could. She loved cooking, traveling and taking little trips to the Kansas Star Casino with her brother Richard. She also loved her WSU basketball knowing all her players stats by heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dodds; daughter, Melanie Dodds; parents, John and Edith Crego; sister, Patsy Burdine; and brother, John Wesley Crego Jr.
Her memory lives on in her survivors: daughter, Jana (Ron) Teel; brother, Richard Crego; grandson, Aaron (Ashli) Teel; granddaughter, Emily Teel; great-grandchildren, Tayla and William Teel; as well as many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 26th at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church 1600 W. 27th St. North, Wichita, Ks. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am with the service beginning at 11:00 am. A committal at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Christ with Children, will follow the service.
