JoAnne L. Bordin (Fleming), 90, was called home on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 in Wichita Kansas. Given the gift of gab and humor, Jodi never met a stranger. A loving wife and mother, she was active in her children’s lives, as a room parent, PTA member, and Den Mother to a bunch of rowdy Cub Scouts. She volunteered for over 30 years with the Auxiliary at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital, where she chaired several Easter BakeFest fiundraisers, dressed as a bunny and spreading love and laughs to patients and employees alike. If you were a friend of her kids, you automatically got an extra mom keeping an eye out for you. While the kids were in school, she could be found holding court and drinking coffee inside the Mr. D’s IGA store delicatessen. After all, she was Java Jodi! When she became a grandma, Burger King became the Saturday breakfast meeting place. In her later years she was a regular at Kings-X and, when they closed to make way for a CVS, she could be found at Neighbors! She never forgave CVS for that move.
She is preceded in death by her parents D.C. and Edna (Awe) Fleming, and her first husband Donald Hitchcock. JoAnne is survived by husband Arthur Bordin, son Stephen Hitchcock, daughter Susan (Steve) Moore, grandchildren Amy (Dave) Kugler, Stephen Hitchcock Jr., Kari (Ryan) Vermillion, Evan (Dana) Hitchcock, Kenton Hitchcock, Kati (Travis) Calvin, great-grandchildren Noah Vermillion, Jackson Vermillion, Brady Vermillion, Riley Vermillion, Brendan Kugler, Emilia Hitchcock, Marlowe Calvin and Karson Hitchcock.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Kansas Humane Society in her honor.
A visitation will be held from 3-6pm, with no family present, on Tuesday, December 1st, at Resthaven Mortuary. A private service will be held.
The family has requested these services to be livestreamed from Resthaven Mortuary & Resthaven Gardens of Memory Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ResthavenMortuary/
