John Fletcher

John graduated from Wichita West High School in 1971. After high -school, he joined the United States Marine Corps as a truck driver in 1972, then he served several years including a tour in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1977.

After service his country, he hired on with Trans World Airlines (TWA) where he worked at TWA and American Airlines after they acquired TWA for about 30 years.

In 1975, he married his wife, Sheryl, on September 27th. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 27, 2025.

When John retired, he went to work for Sedgwick County as a truck driver and worked there for 10 years. He retired in January of 2015.

During his free time, John enjoyed hunting and fishing, liked to watch NASCAR and even went to some races. He was a huge fan of Dan Earnhardt and liked to collect NASCAR memorabilia.

As a car enthusiast, he had a 56' Chevy that he took to car shows and won several trophies; and his nephew, David Holt, pained it rootbeer candy for him. John then sold the car when we were remodeling our home. He always mentioned that was his biggest regret. As a man with many talents, he restored old gas pumps we have several in our home.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert and Lorene Fletcher; his brother, Robert (Rodenia) Fletcher; and his sister, Judy Fletcher (David) Holt.

He is survived by: his wife, Sheryl (Mills) Fletcher of Wichita; his brother, James (Judy) Fletcher of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and his brother, Jeffrey (Judy) Fletcher of Wichita, Kansas; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.

Celebration of Life will be held July 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the VFW Post 3115, 4801 West Douglas Ave., Wichita, Kansas 67209.
