John H. Button, 97, left this earth on October 30, 2017 at the Kansas Veterans’ Home in Winfield, KS. He was born in Meade County, KS to Orville and Mary Dora Elizabeth (Malone) Button. John served his country in WWII and the Korean War. He retired from the maintenance department of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in 1983. He and his wife moved to Ulysses in 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Everett, William “Bill”, Leroy and Oscar Reed; and sisters, Elsie Kibler and Julia Hedgecoke. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna Button; sons, Ron (Carolyn) Button of Haysville and Don (Vivian) Button of Ulysses; one foster daughter, Ellen (Kent) Pitcher of Danville, IL; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place with no services to be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements under the direction of Devorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita, KS.
