John Thomas Lee, age 69, retired Assistant Greenskeeper at Crestview Country Club, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019, in Wichita, Kansas. John was born on March 28, 1950 in Herington, Kansas, the son of Charles William and Trudi Viola (Adams) Lee.
John was an accomplished musician. He loved music of all kinds. He enjoyed playing the Beatles songs the most but thru the years wrote and played many of the songs that he wrote. He was in a few exceptional groups here in Wichita including Silverstream, Islands and Sweetwater Canyon. One of John's proudest moments was being the opening act for the band, "YES", at the old Forum in downtown Wichita.
John loved his music. He was the worship leader for several churches and would play music when and wherever possible. He will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Lee; and a sister, Tena Keil. Survivors include: wife, Cheryl France, Wichita, Kansas; son, Douglas and wife, Brittainy Lee, Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Cyressa Lee, Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Sally Henning, Wichita, Kansas, and Ahnora "Cookie" and husband, Larry Maher, Quartzsite, Arizona.
Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30; funeral service 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th Street, North, Wichita.
