Thomas, John Elbert, age 82, died April 1, 2015, he was born March 3, 1933 in Gary, OK. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Thomas; mother, Iris Sampson; step-mother, Mary Thomas; step-father, Buster Sampson; grandson, Shawn Davis. Survivors: wife of 60 years, Lenora R. Thomas, of the home; children, Mary (Gerald) Fletcher, Mustang, OK, Elbert D. Thomas, Phoenix, AZ, William E. Thomas, Wichita; siblings, Frank, St. Louis, MO, Arnel (Millie), Rosella, Daisy (Tommy) Cook, St. Charles, AR, and Madge Cross, Valley Center; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. John worked for the City of Wichita, Forestry Dept. and was Director of Sedgwick Co. Park and Public Works. He retired from Kansas Turnpike Authority as a landscaper. Visitation 11 a.m. to noon Monday at Hillside Funeral Home, 935 N. Hillside, Wichita; graveside service 1 p.m. Monday, at Oxford Cemetery, KS.
