Joshua "Josh" Bruggeman

Joshua David Bruggeman, age 46, of Wichita, KS passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He is survived by his children, Emily (Brett) Manahan, Brooke Davis, Macy Bruggeman & Lauren Bruggeman; wife, Kerri Bruggeman; parents, Kit & Dave Bruggeman; siblings, Jacqueline (Jesse) Budd, Joel Bruggeman & Jacob Bruggeman; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Preceding him in death was his sister, Jessica Bruggeman.

To know Josh was to love Josh through his contagious smile, quick-wittedness, huge heart, and hands made of stone. He was a brave Wichita firefighter, skillful carpenter by trade, and a passionate coach to many in the softball community. While he was outnumbered by five girls at home, he was proud to raise his daughters with his wife Kerri as he watched them grow up on theater stages, volleyball courts, and softball fields. His friends and fellow firefighters remember him not just for his helpful spirit but by his ability to make anything a competition as well as his willingness to laugh at himself. Josh will be missed for many reasons, but mostly because he made those around him a little bit better.

Josh was honored through a city-wide procession on Friday, December 31st thanks to the Wichita Fire Department Honor Guard. There will be no formal funeral at this time but those who knew Josh are encouraged to share pictures and stories with the family to keep his spirit alive.
