It was there she met the love of her life, LeVander Lee Hoy Jr., who swept her off her feet. Shortly after, Joy and Ali relocated to Wichita to begin a new chapter together.
In Wichita, Joy worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, dedicating more than 15 years of service. She later joined the Radiology Department at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, where she remained until her retirement.
On March 21, 2005, Joy and LeVander were united in marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada—a joyful day filled with celebration, laughter, and love.
Joy was well known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and vibrant personality. She loved reading, cooking, fishing, long phone conversations with loved ones, and spending time with her beloved dog, Boss. Her kindness, humor, and comforting presence touched everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Irving and Bertha Ammons; and siblings Kathryn Jackson, Hilda Davis, Ann Thomas, Vernon Ammons, and Russell Irving Jr.
Joy leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, LeVander Lee Hoy Jr.; her son, Roy Ali Davis; her stepchildren, Marlon Hoy, David Hoy, and Kimberly (Gregory) Chaney; sisters, Barbara Jean Goff and Jackie Miller; her grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends.
