

On the morning of December 28, 2024, Julie Bruey passed away at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. Julie was 43 years old. Services will be held at Resthaven Mortuary on January 2, 2025, at 3:00 pm. Prior to the service, a viewing and visitation with the family is scheduled from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
On June 24, 1981, Julie was born in Wichita, KS, to James and Charlotte Bruey. She was a lifelong resident of Wichita. She attended Rainbow's United and completed her education at Wichita South High School, where she graduated in 2000 with honors and was an Honorary Member of the National Honor Society.
Julie was an ardent KU fan and loved collecting everything KU. She followed KU basketball games and attended in person whenever possible. Julie loved the Wichita Thunder hockey team and was a season ticket holder for many years. She remained in contact with former players throughout her life.
Julie enjoyed regular "therapy" sessions at local casinos and on vacation. After collecting her winnings, she earned the nickname "Jackpot Julie"! She loved attending live theater, concerts, traveling, with trips including to Branson to see the Haygood Family becoming an annual event.
Julie was always smiling and happy. She spread joy and love to everyone she met with never an unkind word to anyone, she was loved by all.
She was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Clarence and Barbara Bruey, Seth and Bonnie Adair; along with her nephew, Kristopher Bruey; and three uncles.
She is survived by: her parents, James and Charlotte Bruey; her sister, Jennifer and her son, Derek; her brother, Jeff and wife Denise and their children, Collin, Megan, Hayden, and Seth.
