Junior E. McArthur
February 19, 1930 – January 6, 2021
Junior Earl McArthur was born on February 19, 1930 in Pratt, Kansas to parents Anna Louise Gaedike and William Lloyd McArthur, Junior passed away on January 6, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 90. He was the fifth of five boys. Earl met his wife Dorothy at a Christmas Eve party and they were married March 15, 1951 in Pratt, Kansas and spent the next 69 wonderful years together. Earl joined the Air Force in 1951 and was first stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Vallejo CA, he then transferred back to Smokey Hill AFB in Salina KS and then overseas to Waddington AFB in England where he and Dorothy lived for a time before returning to Wichita where they bought a home a began raising their family. Earl was employed at Boeing for 17 years as a Material Planning Supervisor and then at Manufacturer's Supply Inc. for 26 years before retiring January 1, 1997. Earl and Dorothy spent many happy summers boating and camping with family and close friends. They also enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their RV and taking cruises to various places. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking their family on a Caribbean cruise. As his children were growing up Earl spent summers coaching their sports teams which he always enjoyed. He also inherited/acquired his mothers love of gardening and grew ----beautiful tomatoes for many years. Earl and his wife spent many winters in their RV in warmer climates where he always participated and enjoyed the challenge of a good pool tournament. Earl and his wife Dorothy were long time members of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and later Aldersgate United Methodist in Wichita. Earl's family always came first. His love for his family will always a part of us with so many warm memories held deep within our hearts. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Floyd McArthur, Lewis McArthur, Harold McArthur, and Donald McArthur. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy; his son Brad McArthur (Vickie) of Wichita, his daughter Julie McArthur (Judith) of Albuquerque NM; his grandchildren Dillon McArthur (Tiffany) of El Dorado; and Carly Divelbess (Jarrod) of Valley Center. A private family graveside service will be held.
