Kenneth Merle Piper, 84, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025. Born on August 29, 1941, in Wichita, Kenneth was the son of Jesse Earl Piper and Flossie E. Mathews-Piper. He graduated from West High School in Wichita and went on to build a fulfilling life rooted in family, hard work, and simple joys.
Kenneth married the love of his life, Arline Piper, and together they shared over 30 wonderful years until her passing in 2019. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment with his family.
Kenneth retired from Boeing Aircraft after a dedicated career. He spent his days doing the things he loved most—tinkering with his tractors, mowers, and cars, taking pride in every bolt and detail. He’d cruise his Torino down the street with that familiar smile, then ride his golf cart through the fields, collecting sticks along the way. Then going to the house to get a buzz like he earned it. Those simple routines were his peace, and they’re the memories we’ll hold onto forever. His calm, free-spirited nature and love for life made him a joy to be around. He was a proud supporter of the Humane Society and believed in caring for animals as much as people.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Piper (Janell); adopted daughters, Brenda So (Andy) and Cheryl Franks (Johnny); grandchildren Jerome Buffalohead, Casey Piper (Jeffrey Merry), and Keri Piper (Ramon Valdovinos); and numerous great-grandchildren: Jordan, Arianna, Janessa, Katelinn, Jaylinn, Zachary, Preston, Nicholas, Jayce, Trenton, Tristan, Trinity S., Trinsley, Trinity P., Elan, Ally, and Amya.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arline, his grandson Kenneth Piper, and 20 siblings.
Kenneth will forever be remembered as the loving, caring, and incredibly awesome Grandpa. His calm, chill vibe and the way he showed up for his family made him truly one of a kind. He was the Grandpa and Dad everyone wished they had. He made everything better just by being there. He left lasting impressions and even better memories. His spirit lives on in every story, every laugh, and every memory he created with the people he loved most.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society in Kenneth’s honor.
Visitation services will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home, on December 17, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow on December 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm, also at Lakeview Funeral Home.
