Lana Lou Monsam, 74, went home to Jesus on March 3, 2019. She was born on February 28, 1945, in Mason City, IA., to Fern & Lester Benhart. She attended Nora Springs Rock Falls High school where she played basketball, softball and played trumpet in the band. Lana graduated as Salutatorian from NSRF. After graduation, Lana completed radiology training in Mason City, IA., and became an X-ray technician. Lana eventually relocated to Wichita where she attended Wichita State University for 3 years. After the birth of her daughter, Janae, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother and was active in the school PTA and as a room mother. Once her daughter was in high school, Lana enjoyed volunteering at the high school as well as in the radiology department at Veterans Administration, where she was a valued member of their team. Lana and Joe joined both the Christian Motorcycle Association and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association where they made many friends. Their travels on their motorcycles took them all over the country, from New Mexico to New York. Lana was an excellent gardener and always had beautiful flowers inside the home and in her gardens at her home. She enjoyed the company of many pets over the years and most recently worked with Friends of Feral Felines to help care for feral cats in the neighborhood.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Janae (Matt) Smith; sisters, Karen Draheim and Noreen (Wayne) Ingersoll; 3 nephews; a niece; countless friends; and her kitties. Viewing with family present on March 6, 12PM. Funeral service on March 6 at 1PM, both at Bethel Life Center.
