Larry Steve Knott

Larry Steve Knott, 76, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on September 5, 2026. He was born on May 15, 1950, in Newton, Kansas, to Robert LeRoy Knott and Edith LaVonne (McCann) Knott. The oldest of three children, Larry was raised alongside his brother, Ronnie Knott, and sister, Penny McAnulty. Throughout a life marked by steady devotion and quiet strength, he was cherished by many for the care he showed, the work he faithfully carried, and the constancy with which he loved his family and community.

Larry earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Accounting from Wichita State University and went on to build a life defined by service, faith, and dedication to others. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1977, attaining the rank of Sergeant and working as an Accounting Clerk. His service took him to Guam and Brooks Air Force Base in Texas. During his military career, he received numerous honors, including the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 10 oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. In later years, he continued to give back by volunteering in support of Honor Flights—an extension of the same steadfast commitment that guided him throughout his life.

On July 16, 1981, Larry married Roseamond “Gail” Dunsworth. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community—a partnership sustained by patience, diligence, and enduring devotion. Larry enjoyed a successful accounting career spanning more than four decades. Beginning as a member of a tax staff, he advanced into leadership roles including Tax Partner and Director of Tax and Accounting Manager, earning the respect of those who relied on his careful judgment and tireless work ethic.

Larry also gave generously of his time and gifts in the life of the church. He faithfully served many church families as a member, treasurer, and trusted leader, including Eastside Community Church, Grace Point Church and Inter-Faith Ministries, where he remained active from 1995 until the present. In each setting, he was known as someone others could depend on—steady in responsibility, thoughtful in counsel, and devoted in service.

A man of many interests and talents, Larry was a Master Gardener who volunteered at the Dole VA Memorial Peace Garden. He enjoyed gourmet cooking, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and sharing his musical gifts through both piano and trombone. Larry played piano for church services and fondly recalled playing trombone in San Antonio for the San Antonio Spurs. He was also a devoted companion to his beloved Maine Coon cats, Pippin and Heidi.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Gail Knott; his sons, Michael Fountain and wife Ginny, and Robert Knott; his sister, Penny McAnulty and husband Todd; four nieces and two nephews; and his in-laws, Saundra Dunsworth, Steve Dunsworth, and Rick Dunsworth (Patty). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert LeRoy Knott and Edith LaVonne (McCann) Knott and his brother, Ronnie Knott.

Larry will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection for his sense of humor, servant’s heart, unwavering faith, and the steady kindness he extended to family, friends, and strangers alike. His life reflected integrity, compassion, and dedication to the people and causes he loved, and his memory will remain beloved by all who knew him.
