Larry Neal Samford, age 92 of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, “God gave him to us 92 years ago and we returned him in spirit today," June 5, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Burke, Texas on December 6, 1931 to the late Robert Lafayette and Ether (Pullen) Samford.
He is preceded by his parents and loving wives, Vivian G. Nelson and Suzanne Horner.
Those left to honor his memory are his children: Debbie (Don) Phillips, Charlene (Greg) Briley, and Sherry Burgess; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Larry served the Wichita community as part of the Wichita Police Department, retiring in 1977, then again retired from Alcohol Beverage Control in 1994. Though his work was a large part of his life, you’d often find him in his favorite places when on the water fishing or on the open road riding his motorcycle.
A visitation for Larry will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, Monday, June 10, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a funeral service at 10 AM, followed by a committal service at 11 AM at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Kellogg, Wichita, KS 67209.
