Lauren was born on June 17, 1996. She is the cherished daughter of mother, Donna, father, Doug, and bonus mother Beth. A devoted sister and kind soul, Lauren's ultimate dream in life was to become a mother. From a young age Lauren felt it was her calling.
Lauren took a job as a server at a restaurant where she later met the love of her life, Joseph Newman, and together they made her dream come true. Lauren instantly became enamored with Joseph's young daughter, Kayden, and considered herself to be Kayden's bonus mom. She loved and doted on her new daughter and shortly after she and Joseph welcomed their son, Landon, into the world.
In November 2017, at the age of 21, Lauren was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). In true Lauren style, in the face of this life-threatening diagnosis, Lauren kept her positive outlook on life. Lauren did not believe in feeling sorry for herself. She drew strength from the love she had for her children, her family, her faith, and her sheer determination to live.
After a difficult battle Lauren conquered her cancer and went into remission in the summer of 2018. It was during this hopeful time that she and Joseph announced they were expecting another child. Unfortunately, soon after, Lauren was given the heartbreaking news that her leukemia had returned.
A selfless mother and a strong warrior, Lauren did everything she could to ensure her son, Malikai, had the best possibility of thriving in spite of her cancer. She delivered him at Wesley Hospital where she was a long term patient and spent every available moment at his side while undergoing treatment for herself.
Lauren's love and strength live on. Lauren did not believe in the possibility that she would not make it. She battled her cancer until the very last second. She gave everything she had and even when she was exhausted and in pain she fought still. Lauren unexpectedly took a turn for the worse but she continued fighting until the very end with strength and courage that many have called inspiring.
Lauren was a lover, a dreamer, a creative spirit, and she is truly missed more than words can express. Being near Lauren was like being near the sun. Light and warmth radiated from her. She had a gentle soul, a genuine love for others, and a happiness that was infectious. Her family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of St Francis and Wesley hospital for their loving care for Lauren until the very end. She spoke often of the wonderful care she received and spoke highly of the nurses, many who became her friends, as well as nursing staff everywhere. She had a true respect for those in the field of helping others.
Lauren is survived by her husband, Joseph, children Kayden, Landon, and Malikai, her parents, grandparents, siblings and countless other family whom she loved dearly.
