February 18, 1930-December 19, 2017
Gene Williams, 87, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday afternoon, December 19, 2017. He is preceded in death by his wife Delores, brothers Larry and Bill Williams, and an infant sister, Bonnie. He is survived by a son Michael Williams and his wife Joy of Oshkosh, WI; a daughter Cheryl Bleier and her husband David of Parkville, MO; four grandchildren, Emily Studer and her husband Brett of Joplin, MO, Angela Smith and her husband Michael of Chelsea, AL, Matthew Bleier of Topeka, KS, and Molly Desch and her husband Josh of Parkville, MO; and six great grandchildren, Ethan, Leah, Simon, Myles, Dierks, and Bryant. Gene was a dearly loved father, grandfather, father-in-law, and friend. He was born in Wichita, KS to Bert and Gladys Williams. He graduated from North High School in Wichita in 1948 and then attended Wichita State University. There he met Delores Patterson and they were married on September 17, 1950. He began working for the Kansas Gas and Electric Co. as a lineman and later served as an agent in Haysville and then Clearwater. He was involved with Lion’s Club, served on the school board in Clearwater, was a deacon at the Clearwater Baptist Church, and a member of the Gideons. His biggest joy was his family and then of course cars. His smile, positive attitude, and encouraging words will be greatly missed. Heaven got a very special man and he will surely welcome us when we arrive. Thank you Lord Jesus! A celebration of life service will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, Wichita, KS, on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons.
