

Leon was a huge advocate for education, and always encouraged his children and grandchildren to pursue post-secondary education and challenge themselves intellectually. He was a lifelong learner who amassed countless academic achievements in the form of recognition, honors, and certificates from institutions of learning, employers, and even the United States Army. Leon had never met a stranger and had a generous heart that was always willing to help any soul who reached out to him. He enjoyed reading the Bible and researching analyses by various authors of many facets of different scriptures, often going in-depth himself in order to explain his conclusions to those around him. He adored collecting coins and was a film enthusiast who maintained a vast assortment of DVDs. Leon was also passionate about gardening, learning and applying as much as he could about the subject. His favorite thing in life was spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Leon served in the U.S. Army for 12 years, after which he was employed at Moen Incorporated in Sanford, NC, where he proudly served his local community.
He is preceded by sister Linda Dotson. Leon is survived by wife Evelyn; daughter Michelle; sister Cidney Dotson; grandchildren Kweli, Syncere, Paris, Nasir, Amir and Niyir; and a host of nieces and nephews.
