Leon Edward Hill, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, World War II Veteran, and friend to countless lives, passed away Tuesday morning, June 15, 2021. Leon was surrounded by his family as he passed peacefully, and will be laid to rest alongside his wife of 59 years, Wilma Hill.
Leon is survived by his children Trudy and Bobby Hill, grandchildren Dallas and Nikki Hill, Joe and Angel Klingenberg, Jordan Hill, and Tyler Hill, and great-grandchildren Finnegan Klingenberg, Alexis Marotta, and Kaydence Hill.
Leon would fill the days sharing his stories with anyone who would listen. He would tell tales of his service to the United States of America during World War II. The highlight of his time there was his part in the storming of Normandy Beach on D Day. His service and his stories inspired everyone, including his daughter Trudy, who has helped repay veterans for their sacrifices by working at the VA Hospital for almost 20 years.
When not telling stories, Leon would spend his retired days spending quality time with his family, whether it was playing Yahtzee every morning at the kitchen table, shooting pool, grilling on the front porch, spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and caring for any and every cat that arrived at his doorstep looking for a meal.
Leon will always be remembered by his family as a caring family patriarch, a symbol of inspiration, and a hero.
