He courageously enlisted in The United States Army on August 14, 1967, at the age of 23, answering the call to serve his country during a tumultuous time in history.

His commitment to his craft, honesty, and loyalty were the cornerstones of his character. He took pride in his work and was known for his perfection and dedication to bricklaying. When not working, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: drinking with friends, dancing with his beloved wife, Mary, and seeking the thrill of pheasant hunting and fishing in nature's embrace.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Alois & Annie Unrein; his brothers: Wayne Unrein, Lester Unrein, and Charles Unrein; and sister, Luella McBride.
Leroy was a devoted husband to Mary K.
