Connie Fulbright-Harris, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the 2nd of 2 children, born to
this marriage. The Harris family worshiped at the Church of Christ, where she
received spiritual training. Linda attended Meridian Elementary, Curtis Junior
High, and Southeast High School. She ultimately received her high school diploma
at the insistence of her parents, and showed great determination along the way,
to obtain it. Linda also pursued her passion for Vocational Technical Training;
earning certificates for Machinery Operations; especially with the Lathe, and
Welders machinery.
Linda's greatest pride and joy, was at the birth of her only child, Delia. From the
beginning, Linda was very protective, and always put Delia first. This was the start
of their very strong and lasting bond. Though Linda always kept her commitment
to have a positive relationship of “shared parenting” with her daughter's father.
Throughout the years, she would drive her daughter on the Cimarron Turnpike to
reach the “halfway point” between Wichita and Tulsa, Oklahoma, to meet her Dad
at the Dairy Queen, so Delia could spend school breaks, as well as summer
vacations, with him.
Linda loved to show hospitality through cooking, she was a good cook who loved
to feed people and entertain them, to make them happy. She also enjoyed the
hobbies of gardening- both flowers and vegetables. Her sister Barbara recalls,
how she was so shocked to learn that all of the beautiful flowers in her garden,
were real and not artificial! She truly had a “Green Thumb” and loved planting
“Elephant Ears”, her favorite plant.
She worked hard for many years at Wescon Controls, in Wichita, Kansas. In 2012,
Linda relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then later, Delia relocated there, too.
Delia recalls her Mom's gardening skills; and how Linda would always share the
fresh vegetables with others, especially the elderly, while bundling extra
vegetables, for those with larger families to feed. Since Linda grew up in a large
extended family, over the years, she continued to cook large meals, even when it
was just the 2 of them. Linda started a holiday family tradition, when she began
asking Delia to pick up food containers to fill with her annual Christmas meal, to
share with the neighbors in her apartment complex-even feeding a neighbor with
whom she might have had a disagreement, or two! Throughout her life, Linda
always expressed her love through cooking, and enjoying food with others. Delia
will always remember sharing their laughter, good times, and even “cutting up”,
with her Mom. Linda enjoyed living life to the fullest, and she would want our
memories of her to be happy ones. Let us all remember her favorite and positive
saying, “Hello, World!”
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 paternal brother, Sherman.
She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Delia Kimbrel; 1 Sister,
Barbara Harris- Hill (Husband, Bryan Hill), 5 Paternal Siblings; Kenneth, Melvin,
Randy, Greg, and Lois; Aunts, Uncles; many Nieces and Nephews and other family
