

Lindsay Sue Wallis, age 74, entered eternal rest on August 16, 2025. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on November 10, 1950, to parents Ben and Mary Ellen (Chronister) Steadham. Lindsay graduated from East High School in 1968. She furthered her education by earning a B.A. in history and education with a minor in Spanish in 1972, and a M.A. in education curriculum in 1998, all from Wichita State University. With a love for education, she worked for USD 259 at Mayberry Middle Magnet School until she retired as a 7th-grade teacher of geography and Spanish.
Clarence and Lindsay were married on February 13, 1972, at the Poplar Avenue Church of Christ in Wichita and celebrated 53 years of marriage until her passing. She had a lifelong passion for learning, especially American history, government, current events, and politics. She enjoyed planning events and entertaining family, friends, and her church. Lindsay also loved traveling. She was very active in her church and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Preceding Lindsay in death are her grandparents Hal and Stella Steadham, Beuna O’Neal and J.M. Chronister, her parents Ben Steadham and Mary Ellen (Chronister) Steadham, and sister Ronda Steadham.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Wallis; daughters, Amy and Emily Wallis; granddaughter, Harper Wallis; sister, April (Dave) Page; niece, Sara McCollister; nephew, Eli Page; and many beloved cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the West Douglas Church of Christ, located at 1924 W. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67203. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery at 3424 E. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67208.
