

Reed, Lyle Boucher, was born on a farm near Augusta, Kansas on November 12, 1927 to Jay and Fern (Boucher) Reed. He entered the church triumphant on November 21, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Lyle graduated from Augusta High School in 1945, was drafted into the Army and served three years with the National Security Agency. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1953 with a degree in accounting. In 1950 he joined the Air Force R.O.T.C. and received his commission in 1952. He resigned in 1965 at the rank of Captain. Lyle also worked as a field agent for the I.R.S., an accountant for Continental Oil, and for 30 years with Burroughs Corporation until his retirement in 1986. Lyle attended the Methodist Church all of his life. He was an adult Sunday School teacher for many years and served in numerous positions. He was currently a member of First United Methodist Church of Graham, Texas. He was an active Boy Scout during his teen years, a Scoutmaster at age 21, and volunteered in District Scouting for many years. After retirement he was an active volunteer at Botanica – The Wichita Gardens, Kansas Aviation Museum, Augusta HS Class of 1945 Reunion, Burroughs Retiree Committee, Wichita Postcard Club, co-founder of Tomball Postcard Club, and several other organizations. Lyle married Regina N. Prigel in June 1951 (died December 1999). They had three sons; Charles Reed and wife Connie of Spring, Texas; Dennis Reed and wife Cindy of Topeka, Kansas; Richard Reed and wife Jeri of Graham, Texas; and one daughter; Rhonda Brewer and husband Ron of Cypress, Texas. Seven grandchildren; Alison Galt and husband Aaron, Leslie Reed, Jay Reed; Jennifer Smith and husband Troy; Craig Reed and wife Jessica; Stephen Reed, Mary Ruth Hooper and husband Bryan. Great grandchildren include: Mike Reed, Emerson Hooper, Bryson and Kadence Reed. He is also survived by one brother, Jerald Reed and wife Winnie of Decatur, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maxine Frost. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday; Memorial Service Sat., Dec. 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. both at Hillside Funeral Home East. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta, Kansas.
