Lyman H. Ray, 75, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026.
Lyman was born on November 7, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas, to Ralph and Caroline Ray. He spent his life in the Wichita area and was a longtime resident of Benton, Kansas.
Lyman was known for his hardworking nature and began his career in pipefitting and plumbing as a teenager, working alongside his father. After spending time at Kendall Mechanical, he joined Central Air Conditioning Company, where he remained for the next 36 years. During his career, he earned his Master Mechanical License, Master Plumbing License, and Fire Protection License. Those who knew him through his work recognized him as dependable, knowledgeable, and always willing to lend a hand. He took great pride in the skilled trades and in the relationships he built throughout his decades of service to the Wichita community.
He also served in the Kansas Army National Guard, a role that reflected the sense of responsibility and commitment instilled in him by his father.
In his free time, Lyman enjoyed being outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed sporting clay shooting. He appreciated the simple pleasures of time spent outside and opportunities to be with family and friends.
Lyman was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Caroline Ray.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Kyle Filiatreault) Ray, Allison (Ben) Renn, and Brian Ray; his grandchildren, Harper Renn, Harrison Renn, and Hayden Ray; his sisters, LaDeen (Ronald D. Betts Sr.) Betts and LaDonna Radermacher; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, Kansas, on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the burial at 11:30 a.m. at Larkspur, 904 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, Kansas.
Lyman will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for family and friends, and the simple life he enjoyed at the farm.
