After graduating from Bishop Carroll High School, Marc filled his time with cooking, photography, and working as a certified storm spotter, among other interests. He was very involved in the VFW's Post 7253 Ham radio club (K0VFW) and after his father's passing, joined American Legion Post 401 as an auxiliary member where he was always active.
"Chef Marc" had a love of all things Cajun after he was introduced to that style of cooking and enjoyed experimenting with various Cajun style foods including pizza. He invented his own “Cajun Gold” seasoning, enjoyed smoking various types of meat, and recently had been smoking different types of cheeses and salt for seasoning. His ribs were truly delicious!
Marc had a love of music. Although he did not play an instrument himself, he enjoyed supporting the local Wichita music scene. He was Wichita’s biggest local music fan/hero/supporter as well as was a huge presence at performances and jams 7 days a week, always wearing his trademark yellow yardstick suspenders -rarely was he seen without them. Marc enjoyed hosting jams at his home and fed everyone who walked through the door with any of his delicious meals.
He was tireless promoter of both venues and performers, posting notices on social media prior to events, live streaming performances and later uploading pictures of the festivities. The Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, was one of his biggest events to attend throughout the year as he was a one-man PR crew. Countless local musicians were the beneficiaries of his free publicity, he didn’t favor any one particular kind of music but gave equal time to all styles and talents and his presence was well known at venues such as the Rusty Nail, The Cowboy Inn, Bill and Mary’s, and The Shamrock Lounge.
Marc was a true and generous friend who will live in all of our hearts and minds. Musicians in the community will sorely miss his presence at the jams and performances in town.
Preceded by his parents, Marc is survived by: his cousins, Margaret (Gunner) Way and Susan (Bill) Tackaberry; and a host of many, many friends, as well as his music family.
Guest are invited to wear your favorite band or festival shirt to the service in his honor.
